John Kitzhaber, M.D. Annual Dinner on Health Policy will be Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the Portland Hilton Hotel from 6:00-8:30 PM. The keynote speaker this year will be Author, Lecturer, Documentary film maker, T. R. Reid. His recent book "The Healing of America" which became a national best-seller and launched Mr. Reid into a national role describing ways to provide health coverage for every American. His latest film, "U.S. Health Care: The Good News" premiered on the national PBS network in 2012, and is still being broadcast by local PBs affiliates. He is a member of the Health Research and Education Trust. Registration for the dinner will be available online starting August 1, 2013. |

The Board of Directors of The Foundation for Medical Excellence (TFME) is pleased to appoint Ron Stock, MD, MA as the TFME John Kitzhaber, MD Fellow in Health Policy for 2013-2015.
The mission of TFME is to promote excellence in medicine, to improve the quality of healthcare and to advance sound health policy by sponsoring education programs, creating collaborative initiatives and pursuing research. It is expected that this appointment will serve as a catalyst in furthering TFME's role in advancing the importance of health policy in improving the quality of healthcare delivery, which was envisioned by John Kitzhaber, MD when he served as the inaugural TFME Chair of Health Policy (2003-2011).
An initial responsibility of the John Kitzhaber, MD Fellow in Health Policy will be to lead an assessment of the personal and professional impact of healthcare delivery transformation in Oregon on physicians and the healthcare community. Particular attention will be focused on the emerging Coordinated Care Organizations and the Primary Care Medical Homes.
Dr Stock received his MD degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine and completed a Family Medicine Residency and Fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina-Charleston and the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. His health services research has focused on team-based care and development of new care delivery models for vulnerable community elders. He currently serves as a member of the Institute of Medicine Best Practices Innovations Collaborative and the National Quality Forum's Measurement Applications Partnership Clinician Workgroup advising HHS on quality measures for practice, public reporting and pay for performance. More recently he joined the technical assistance team supporting the CMS Comprehensive Primary Care Initiative in Oregon. Dr. Stock joined the faculty in the Department of Family Medicine at OHSU School of Medicine in 2012 where he also serves as Director of Regional Clinical Education in the School of Medicine. Prior to coming to OHSU he served as the Medical Director of the Gerontology Institute and the Center for Medical Education & Research for PeaceHealth in Eugene. |
