Purpose of the Program
While many health systems in the Pacific Northwest have created their own leadership programs, no individual program can model the trans-institutional skills required to lead organizations in a future where business, health care, government, and community increasingly interact. This program will not teach everything a leader needs to know, because the requisite skills 5 years from now have not yet been defined. It will teach all the capacities a leader will need to guide a learning organization.
TFME offers leadership education that applies a local lens to national health care priorities and imperatives –
A graduate will be prepared to:
- Lead an economically successful organization and foster a healthy workforce, both of which will be engaged in improving the health of the population.
- Ability to think strategically, to advocate, collaborate or adapt as necessary to succeed within a largely unknowable future in healthcare.
Who Should Attend this Course?
The program is designed for the future leaders in healthcare. Recognizing that health care leaders have different levels of experience and skills, the TFME program will have two tracks:
- The Foundational Leadership Track is designed for emerging leaders who have had clinical training but minimal leadership training and experience. Participants might include new medical directors, managers or board members.
- The Experienced Leadership Track is designed for current leaders who are or will soon be “leaders of leaders,” perhaps overseeing several front line leaders or joining an organization’s senior leadership team.
Both tracks are open to physician leaders and non-physician leaders in recognition that elevated organizational performance depends on integrating a variety of skill sets, experiences, and the ability to unify a diverse workforce.
