John Kitzhaber, M.D. Lectureship on Healthcare Policy

The Foundation established this lectureship to honor Dr. Kitzhaber’s nationally recognized contributions to the citizens of Oregon as State Senator and Governor through his pioneering leadership in legislating the Oregon Health Plan. This lectureship focuses on issues related to economics and public policy in healthcare.

Updates about the Event

The most recent lecture and dinner was held on February 6, 2020 featuring  guest speaker Dr. Elisabeth Rosenthal on the topic of “The American Healthcare System”. The event at the Portland Hilton Hotel, Pavillion Ballroom was well attended and included remarks by former Governor John Kitzhaber, M.D. and the presentation of this year’s Medical Student Scholarships.

Past events include  January 24, 2019  at Portland Hilton Hotel in the Atrium Ballroom and featured Donald Berwick, M.D. on “The Inevitable Role of Politics in Health Care.”
